Late last month the Democratic Republic of the Congo announced they would be auctioning off a vast majority of land for gas and oil drilling that reaches into Virunga National Park. The rainforest land has been the home to endangered mountain Gorillas throughout the Eastern Congo.
Funds from this shirt will be donated to Virunga National Park.
Gorillas in the Mist is a book written by the late Dian Fossey who was a conservationist that spent 15 years studying and living with Gorillas in Zaire, Rwanda and Uganda, and helped save them from extinction. The Gorilla pictured is Digit, one of Fossey's favorites who was born in 1965 and lived until 1977 when he was killed and beheaded by poachers.
